Abstract:

California photos include: several views of the Hotel del Monte, its gardens and vicinity; the Hetch Hetchy valley; general views of Santa Cruz and a beach in Capitola; views of Mariposa Grove; Bodie; Daggett ; Borate area [now Boron?]; borax mining sites in Death Valley region; Yosemite; Carmel Mission; a placer mine near Murphys; and views of wagons, burros and transportation trains (one with a Waterloo Mine company logo); people; scenery, etc. Also included are photos of Zuni and Navaho Indians and pueblos in New Mexico; Austin City Railway, Austin, Nevada; and an oversized infrared photograph depicting the Sierras from Mount Hamilton. Also present are copy photographs of Timothy H. O'Sullivan images from the U.S. Geographical Surveys, made from originals in the National Archives.
